Default NPC armour art for PVE players

Simple suggestion:

Make "some" of the Armour art currently used on "human-race" NPCs available to PVE players.

Heros have unique looking armour, same with henchmen, heck even Canthan peasants have armour art i wouldn't mind on a monk or something.

Sure lots of art would have lore problems , but i'm sure there is some armour art out there that could be added to a current crafter without too much hub-bub.( might even re-vitilize a crafting material)

Since starting this game in 2005 armour art/new characters have been MY biggest Cash sinks but i am always rewarded with customisation that I can enjoy and that keeps me playing till the next set.
One example to finish off: Gehraz has the best dervish art IMO and hes pretty much stuck in towns being unused and almost unseen. Just a pitty that such well done art is not really seen <(^_^)b.

I think it's too late for it to be changed now, but that is one thing I have been wanting. A few NPC's in Kamadan have outfits that I wouldn't mind.

/signed, even though it will probably not happen

I doubt that any new armors are about to ever be added to the game.

Would you take it as a fair compromise if new "armors" somehow became available via purchasing tonics, in either single-dose or everlasting form, that allow you to transform into the characters with the clothes or armor that you wish to have yourself?

As a followup to that, them being a tonic and not an actual set of armor, how do you feel it would be fair to price them?

The reasons i prefer armour over a tonic is.
I don't have to activate armour, it can be dyed and I can mix and match armour pieces.

I realise it is a unlikely idea, that is why im suggesting using "current" art that is in the game, or something more subtle like small changes to textures on existing sets.

That said i do accept that tonics/costumes are the likely compromise, as i have no idea how much effort it really would take to achieve npc style "armour".

As for price of tonics ect.. I like the current methods/prices of birthdays, gifts, player trading ect.

While adding NPC as armor could be technically quite demanding, they could be added as costumes - which basically work like NPC armor, being body models with your character's head stuck on it.

I believe the days of new armor sets are long gone. When costumes were added, the need to add new armor skins was nearly wiped out. Why work on 5 or so individual pieces of armor for 10 different classes when a 2 piece costume can be made to cover all of them?

In my lists of priorities is Luxon and Kurzick for paragons and dervishes. So Dervishes and paragons can fill a HoM by themselves without having to make alternate characters, like the rest of professions have.
Those are the only 'pressing' ones. Since it's the only armor set required for a full resilience monument that paragons and dervishes cannot get.

In an ideal situation, every single armor set would have 10 different equivalents, one per profession.
For example, the Ascalonian assassin armor would look similar to Anton's.

Thats what I do wonder, Does an NPC "equip" armour in a similar way too a player?(programming-wise). heros certainly "seem" too.
So is it that much harder(than tonics/costumes) to make Koss's armour available too a player?(just an example)

Reading breifly on wiki about Cynn.
" The graphics model used for Cynn includes normally hidden underwear beneath the skirt."

As for costumes i wonder if they could make "dye-able" ones. the functionality of costumes and tonics is just too rigid for me doesn't mean it won't/can't change i guess :<.

Pretty much all the henchmen wear customized versions of armor regularly available to players.

Still, I believe their models are pre-definite. Even tough heroes "seem" to equip 5 distinct armor pieces, I think it's just for coherency with the inventory layout: you can't unequip armor pieces or swap individual pieces. Non-visible armor pieces are replaced with placeholders in the inventory. Checked with Mercenary Heroes: even a naked character results in a fully-armored Mercenary, you just can't see any armor but the merc is indeed wearing it.

So, even if there are some point of contact, I don't think NPCs are anything more then bespoke 3D models.

That's why I think converting their outfit to the player's armor system would be quite demanding. Costumes on the other hand are much simpler, as they would also need little to no variation among professions. Once they have designed or adapted the body model and posed it to the profession-specific stance, all they'd need is to glue your character's head on top of it (when applicable).

Makes plenty of sense to me, cheers.

Heh I'm just being a bit stubborn, cause i don't spend much time in towns and don't/probably won't own costumes.
They don't attract me because they only really have 1-2 looks, i'd rather try the 1000+ armour combinations.
I crave unique-ness... oh dear i am a GW hipster ahhh :P.
